A while ago I got into a discussion concerning, Jesus doing away with the Torah. It seemed that I was getting nowhere with her on this topic. So I did this little study on this subject. Interestingly enough this did not change her mind in any form. So unless the Father opens her eyes she will remain blind to Truth.
We can easily be swayed by emotions so the counter to this is what did YHVH say? It is not open to private interpretation, it is open to my opinion, rather it only matters what did YHVH say and mean when He said it.
Jer 31:31-40 NKJV
(31) “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah—
To whom is this written? Has this changed?
(32) not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD.
(33) But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
(34) No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”
Has this happened yet? Are people still teaching others? Does everyone know about the wonderful things of God?
(35) Thus says the LORD, Who gives the sun for a light by day, The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, Who disturbs the sea, And its waves roar (The LORD of hosts is His name):
(36) “If those ordinances depart From before Me, says the LORD, Then the seed of Israel shall also cease From being a nation before Me forever.”
Have His commandments departed? Have the seeds of Abraham all vanished? Has the nation of Israel ceased to be a nation?
(37) Thus says the LORD: “If heaven above can be measured, And the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel For all that they have done, says the LORD.
(38) “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, that the city shall be built for the LORD—from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate.
(39) The surveyor’s line shall again extend straight forward over the hill Gareb; then it shall turn toward Goath.
(40) And the whole valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields as far as the Brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall be holy to the LORD. It shall not be plucked up or thrown down anymore forever.”
Mat 26:26-29 NKJV
(26) And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
(27) Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.
(28) For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
(29) But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
Mar 14:22-25 NKJV
(22) And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
(23) Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it.
(24) And He said to them, “This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.
(25) Assuredly, I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
Luk 22:14-20 NKJV
(14) When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him.
(15) Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;
(16) for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
(17) Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves;
(18) for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
(19) And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
(20) Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.
2Co 3:1-18 MKJV
(1) Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, like some, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
(2) You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men,
(3) it having been made plain that you are the epistle of Christ, ministered by us, not having been written with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not on tablets of stone, but in fleshly tablets of the heart.
Quoted Jerimiah 31:33
(4) And we have such trust through Christ toward God,
(5) not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God;
(6) who also has made us able ministers of the new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit makes alive.
(7) But if the ministry of death, having been engraved in letters in stone was with glory (so that the sons of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses because of the glory of his face), which was being done away;
Again, what was done away with?
(8) shall not the ministry of the Spirit be with more glory?
(9) For if the ministry of condemnation is glorious, much more does the ministry of righteousness exceed in glory.
(10) For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels.
(11) For if that which has been done away was glorious, much more that which remains is glorious.
What was done away with?
(12) Then since we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech.
(13) And we are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of the thing being done away.
(14) (But their thoughts were blinded; for until the present the same veil remains on the reading of the old covenant, not taken away. But this veil has been done away in Christ.
(15) But until this day, when Moses is read, the veil is on their heart.
(16) But whenever it turns to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.
(17) And the Lord is that Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
(18) But we all, with our face having been unveiled, having beheld the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Lord Spirit.
In this passage, Paul is not referring that the Torah that was done away with, rather He is saying the veil was removed and the Torah was written on their hearts so that they could see what God had intended for them at Mt. Sinai that the whole country would be like Moses.
This is why from then until now, they believe that by doing what is engraved on stone tablets. God wanted them to have the Torah written on their hearts.
Deu 13:1-8 MKJV
(1) If a prophet rises among you, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder,
(2) and the sign or the wonder which he foretold to you occurs, saying, Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us serve them,
(3) you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For Jehovah your God is testing you to know whether you love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
(4) You shall walk after Jehovah your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments, and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.
(5) And that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken to turn you away from Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you out of the house of slaves, to thrust you out of the way in which Jehovah your God commanded you to walk. So you shall put the evil away from the midst of you.
(6) If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is like your own soul, lures you secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods which you have not known, you nor your fathers,
(7) that is, of the gods of the people who are around you, near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth,
(8) you shall not consent to him nor listen to him. Nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare, nor shall you hide him.
I hope that this encourages you in your walk with the Messiah.
This is not our battle, and the enemy wants you to think that you are powerless and unequipped to stand firm in what you believe.
Eph 6:10-18 MKJV
Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
(11) Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
(12) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world’s rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
(13) Therefore take to yourselves the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
(14) Therefore stand, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness
(15) and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
(16) Above all, take the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
(17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God,
(18) praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
1Co 16:13 MKJV Watch! Stand fast in the faith! Be men! Be strong!
May YHVH grant you a multitude of blessings?
